Trust is the thread everything else hangs from. Here is who we are, how we are governed, and how your gifts are used.

Mission

Why the church exists

The Church of Death Muerte Tod is organized exclusively for religious, charitable, and educational purposes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Our mission is to provide spiritual guidance, community support, and honest education rooted in the acceptance of death as the experience that connects all living things. We serve our community through charitable works, grief care, and remembrance.

Values

What we hold

We are a church grounded in reason and the dignity of the individual. Our practice is symbolic: rite and ritual work upon the practitioner, not upon the laws of nature.

  • Act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures, in accordance with reason.
  • The struggle for justice is ongoing and necessary, and should prevail over unjust laws and institutions.
  • One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.
  • The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend.
  • To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo your own.
  • Beliefs should conform to one’s best scientific understanding of the world. Ritual is symbolic practice, never a claim upon physics.
  • People are fallible. When we err, we do our best to rectify it and resolve any harm caused.
Governance

How we are run

The church is governed by a Board of Trustees responsible for policy, financial oversight, conflict-of-interest management, and compliance. Day-to-day spiritual leadership and programs are carried out by the ministry under board oversight.
